Shot on Sony Ξ±7s Mark III, Leica Summicron-C

What We Did

We wanted to push the limits of what a prosumer mirrorless camera could do, and the A7s III did it’s job (surprisingly) well.

❋ Helping a Former Lecturer Out

As a former student of Boi, the director, we wanted to help all we could to mark his return to directing.

❋ Tools Used

Silverstack XT was used for offloading and QC.

COPRA Onset hosted in a Docker container was used for disseminating dailies to the relevant departments for continuity checking.

❋ Initial Worries

The budget wasn’t big, and we were worried the A7sIII wasn’t up to snuff shooting in XAVC, but we had confirmation from the colourist after camera tests that the A7sIII’s S-Log3 curve worked, even when pushed to the limit with high contrast saturated lighting.

❋ The Result

Boi’s directorial return since The Days in 2008, and Singapore’s first M18-rated crime thriller.

The use of COPRA made dissemination of dailies quick, and really helped the lighting department when going into shooting additional scenes after the initial shoot.
